ATTENTION UNIVERSITY STUDENTS OF THE NORTHEAST

BECOME A CITIZEN JOURNALIST AND GIVE A VOICE TO THE PEOPLE OF YOUR PROVINCE

Become part of a journalism network in the Northeast that highlights issues of the environment, democracy, human rights, government transparency and accountability, and other areas affecting the people in the provinces of Loei, Nong Khai, Udon Thani, Nong Bua Lamphu, Khon Kaen, and Chaiyaphum. (Read this in Thai here)

We are looking for Thai students or recent graduates from any undergraduate institution in these six provinces.

What you’ll get:

  • Participation in 5 Journalism Skill-Building Workshops
    • Three 4-day workshops in May through July
    • Two 2-day weekend workshops in September and December
    • Accommodation, food, and transportation provided
  • Work with a professional journalist who will edit your work and mentor your experience
  • Meet experts in areas of the environment, democracy, human rights, etc.
  • Learn about key issues in the province you’ve studied in
  • Get paid for articles you’ve written, submitted, and published
  • Certificate of Completion at the end of the project

Who we need:

  • Someone who’s interested in learning how to write journalistically
  • Someone who’s interested in learning how to take photos for news stories and features
  • Someone who’s pro-active and able to work as part of a team
  • Someone who’s dedicated and committed to learning and sharing
  • Someone who’s interested in local and national news
  • Someone who’s dependable and has a stable living situation
